Average Rating: 4.27 out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The best of of its kind
I bought the three best-known LSAT test prep books. I was in despair over taking the LSAT after working through other two, but this one really worked. Buy "Master the LSAT" from Amazon and a pile of practice exams from LSAC; don't bother with the Kaplan and Princeton study guides. I followed the opening instructions to start my prep 12 weeks ahead of my test date, working a little each day (if you aren't self-motivated enough to do that, please forget law school). I have no doubt that this book is responsible for my good LSAT score and admittance to law school. Note: Ignore the software. The LSAT is a paper test and the book's layout prepares you for the look of the actual test. That familiarity will reduce your test-day anxiety.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - YOU are the ultimate master
I purchased this book after reading so many great responses on Amazon. In actuality, the people that purchased this book and had so much success must have also incorporated what they learned from a prep class. This book is not the end-all-be-all under no circumstance. I must agree the games section is great. It does tend to venture into areas not touched on the real LSAT but if you are also using 10 Real LSATS you will get a feel for which games you do not have to prepare for. I got nothing from the arguement and reading comprehension sections. IN a nutshell: This book does surpass the other LSAT books that are on the market by far, however, in order to truly master the LSAT please enroll in a prep class, do all of the exams in 10 Real LSATS and use this book as a reference guide. By using the above formula you will have no choice other than to succeed. Good Luck.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Reasonable, but this is just the beginning
This book is marginally effective in its efforts. It's a good introduction to what you'll find on the LSAT, but it's certainly not a consummate preparation tool.

Pros:

1. Fair introduction to logic, good explanation of logical fallacies that can be found in Logic Reasoning questions.

2. Some decent practice problems, but many of them are made up by Jeff Kolby and don't represent actual LSAT questions (because they're not).

Cons:

1. The Games Section explanation is, in my opinion, uneffective. Its desultory effort to communicate methods to take on the games falls short--so short that I would skip this section of the book altogether and buy PowerScore's "Logic Games Bible."

2. As mentioned above, many questions are made up by Kolby, and therefore are not an efficient use of your LSAT preparation time. ONLY use real LSAT questions to prepare for test day. Would you let someone make up directions for a long roadtrip and use them, or would you rather have the real thing?

The bottom line: If you can get a used copy of this book off amazon or half.com for around $10, then I'd buy it, otherwise buy PowerScore's Logic Games Bible and Logical Reasoning Bible (PowerScore.com); practice with LSAC's "10 Actual" "10 more Actual" "Next 10 Actual." Don't forget to breath.
